11am - 1pm
$200
This class will focus on painting from life in oils. Students

the final class, we will present our paintings in an informal

Watercolor Quinacridone
Paints - Free Hands-On Demo (AND you don't have to know how to
say"Quinacridone"!)
Instructor: Sharon Searles
Saturday, July 24
11am - 1pm
FREE DEMO
These incredible paints are among the easiest for beginners to
use, and they are widely used by professional artists who want
transparent, vivid, lightfast colors. Quinacridones are relatively
new on the art scene, having been developed for the automobile
industry. (Why automobiles? Because cars need beautiful colors
that don't fade, and artists need the same thing!)
As watercolors, Quinacridones enhance mixes, they make fabulous
glazes, and they are beautiful easily workable substitutes for
some of the earth colors that can get muddy if you're not careful
and experienced.
Available in a beautiful range of yellows to reds, we'll have
a
variety of Quinacridone watercolors for you to sample during this
demo. And you don't have to know how to pronounce "quinacridone"
(but I'll tell you if you want to know)!
Sharon Searles is a Mill Valley artist with a flair for teaching.
She delights in the joys and successes of her students. Her own
paintings are in private collections nationwide. For information

Mosaic Tile Demonstration
Instructor: Kathryn Cerasoli
Saturday, September 25
11am - 1pm
FREE
Kathryn will demonstrate the process of creating a simple mosaic
project, step-by-step. She'll start by talking about surfaces
- which are suitable for your particular need - and then how to
prepare them. She'll show how to create a basic design, including
how to break tiles so that the image "work", then how
to adhere the tiles, apply grout, and finally how to seal your
project. Participants will be able to try out the tiles, tools
and materials so that they leave with a genuine feel for the process.
And while Kathryn is walking and talking you through a larger
project, participants will be able to keep their hands busy creating
a 2" x 2" magnet using mini-tiles. This will be a hands-on
demo, so space is limited to 10. All materials will be provided
by Mosaic Mercantile.
Kathryn teaches day-long mosaic art classes. She also sells her
mosaic art, which is created on a variety of surfaces, using different
kinds of tile, china ware and glass.
